Marketing Communications Manager

Location: Remote

Summary of role: Responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of Sopheon’s global content and communication programs to build brand awareness and drive leads. Lead the public relations initiatives and content program which includes thought leadership material, case studies, e-books, press releases, blogs, and social media.

Reports to: Director Global Marketing

Direct reports: Freelance writers and designers

Financial responsibilities: Corporate ad budget, content creation budget, social media

Internal Interfaces: Sales, Product Marketing/Management, Marketing Operations, PLG

External Interfaces: Agencies, partners, clients, marketing freelancers


  • Corporate communication
    • Manage corporate messaging, ensuring it is consistently implemented across all channels and content and continues to align with corporate strategy and market opportunities
    • Develop communication plans, prioritizing communication activities and elevating the relevant topics to the best channels in line with our strategic priorities
    • Respond to requests for communications support, which may involve both presenting communications strategies as well as writing and/or reviewing content for media and event launches, including press releases, social media, websites, and other communications assets
    • Work with internal constituents to ensure consistency of corporate messaging across all mediums, both internal and external
    • Support customer review programs
  • Content management:
    • Lead the development of awareness and consideration content. Create and project manage the development of case studies, bylined articles, blog posts, and brochures, and adhere to style and messaging guidelines
    • Lead customer success story program
    • Run the Sopheon blog program, identifying topics, project managing blog production, working with internal and external SMEs and external writers, and editing and posting and coordinating promotions
    • Run the Sopheon newsletter program
    • Produce the podcast program, working with internal and external SMEs and the podcast hosting company to schedule guests, review show notes, manage posting and coordinate promotions
    • Research and identify relevant data to support communication content
    • Write copy that drives conversion, increases click-through rates and engages with the audience and/or
    • Direct both internal and external resources who develop copy and content
    • Edit, proofread and quality check commercial and editorial content
    • Support programs and campaigns with content, social and paid media
    • Support web team with website content creation
    • Partner with events manager and SME to align on podcast schedule
    • Partner with Acclaim business unit to align on content programs
  • Social media management
    • Manage Sopheon social media channels
    • Develop and execute the Sopheon organic social media strategy to increase brand awareness and paid social media strategy to drive leads
    • Create content for social media aligned to company/product messaging (copywriting, designing, editing, scheduling)
    • Run internal social media training program
    • Monitor and stay up to date with industries, markets and trends; develop timely responses
    • Analyze and report on social media. Develop insights from analytics to improve communication
  • Vendor management
    • Manage external vendors as appropriate for content creation that adhere to brand and messaging guidelines
    • Manage PR agency and external public relations communication process. Work alongside sales to gain approval of customer win press releases
    • Manage PR agency for blog program and work alongside SME to review to subject matter

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in writing and editing content
  • Proficiency in HubSpot, CANVA, social media platforms, LinkedIn campaign manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Wordpress and marketing automation systems is essential
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Web proficiency for research, discovery, and information collection
  • Time management and people skills
  • Strong prioritization, organization, and project management skills
  • High energy, results-oriented with good decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively to achieve volume and quality task objectives
  • Desire to constantly learn through training, coaching, industry publications, etc.
  • Experience in executing digital marketing campaigns and PR programs
  • Experience in B2B SaaS software business highly desirable

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field
  • Must be a native English speaker
  • Ability to travel as necessary
