Sopheon is looking for a Director of Product Marketing reporting to the company’s Chief Marketing Officer. The Director of Product Marketing will help define our product marketing processes and drive the evolution and scaling of our company and products. The person will advocate our vision through product-focused content, messaging, and positioning, coupled with sound execution. The Director of Product Marketing and their team will be exploring the market and integrating new ideas as our offerings enter and expand in the marketplace. For this role, collaboration is key, ownership is strong, and changing the way the world innovates and builds products is everything.

This cross-functional leadership role requires working closely with product development, product management, client services, customer success, sales, customers and the rest of the marketing team to identify opportunities in both product and customer configurations, providing offerings that bring qualitative and quantitative value representing highly differentiated and elegantly designed capabilities to market.

Responsibilities

  • Tell the story and show the power of Sopheon products and services to the market. This includes product positioning & messaging, product launches, product education/training materials, sales enablement.
  • Sharply position products and services, consistently executing that in market, supported by well-defined market segmentation and personas – from the C-Suite to junior buyer
  • Collaborate in assessing product-market fit and defining target markets.
  • Work with Marketing to develop campaigns and programs to drive market awareness and adoption of our offerings in target markets.
  • Manage and lead our product-focused messaging including participating in creating compelling content.
  • Work with Marketing to develop content and deliverables defining our products and positioning, differentiating its value and key benefits
  • Build out and execute our sales and partner enablement strategy.
  • Track actual and potential competitors and devise counter-strategies to them
  • Educate sales on competitive positioning strategies
  • Work with Marketing, Product Management, Sales, Pre-sales, and Services to drive product launches.
  • Ensure internal and external customers are readied and educated on key product features and capabilities.
  • Drive Sopheon’s go-to-market and pricing strategy.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of competitive products and market/industry trends.
  • Act as product evangelist both internally and externally, demonstrating extensive knowledge of Sopheon products and their commercial applications.
  • Manage, mentor and professionally develop a highly collaborative team of Product Marketing Managers, including appraising performance, rewarding and providing constructive feedback.
  • Work with Product Management to define product strategy and direction.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and open idea exchange.
  • Work with Executive team to identify potential merger and acquisition candidates. Work with the executive team on integrating the acquisitions into Sopheon.
  • Work with Sales to develop sales programs to drive revenue.
  • Responsible for building strong business relationships with key partners to achieve long-term goals and objectives. 
  • Analyze current industry trends to identify partnership opportunities that would generate revenue resources and profitability.

  • Proven track record bringing new products and services to market and activation programs to grow the user base
  • Able to communicate complex concepts simply and clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent storyteller with sound writing and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue, new markets and sales acceleration with smart and well executed Product Marketing plans
  • Strong cross-functional leadership
  • Ability to make confident prioritization/trade-off decisions and develop creative solutions to problems facing the organization.
  • Strong win/win negotiator, ability to drive win/win outcomes from discussions and debates
  • Strong leader with the willingness to dig into details and lead by example
  • Strong coaching skills, ability to grow and develop a team
  • Proven ability to collaborate across various groups, build relationships and manage effectively across a geographically dispersed organization
  • Self-motivated; comfortable working independently under general direction and able to balance priorities
  • Bonus: Experience with product-led products and growth initiatives.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7 or more years in a Director of Product Marketing or equivalent role with responsibility for product messaging, sales enablement, product launches and content creation
  • 10-15 years of experience in Product Management, Product Marketing, Marketing or equivalent roles
  • Demonstrated success in defining, launching and marketing software, SaaS or other deep tech products 
  • Experience with the “Jobs To Be Done” framework and processes
