Sopheon was founded in 1993 as Netherlands-based PolyDoc. Building on unique competencies in linguistics and language management, the company immediately began creating software applications that enabled organizations to capture, organize and access knowledge. In 1999, prompted largely by the continued evolution of its business, the company changed its name to Sopheon.
Sopheon introduced its flagship product lifecycle management solution in 2001. The capabilities of the software system were subsequently expanded through internal development efforts, augmented by M&A activity both in the U.S. and Europe. The company sharpened its strategic focus with the divestiture of non-core research services businesses in 2003.
Sopheon is now recognized as the global market leader in the provision of product lifecycle management software and services to support strategic innovation planning, idea development, innovation process execution and product portfolio management.
