History

Sopheon began in 1993 as Netherlands-based PolyDoc. Building on unique competencies in linguistics and language management, the company created software applications that enabled organizations to capture, organize and access knowledge. Use of this technology was focused on specific processes, such as hospital protocol management. To reflect the evolution of the company and its focus on knowledge management, in 1999 the company changed its name to Sopheon.

Sopheon introduced its core product lifecycle management solution in 2001. The capabilities of the software system were subsequently expanded through extensive M&A activity both in the U.S. and Europe. These strategic initiatives included the divestiture of non-core research services businesses in 2003.

Sopheon is now recognized as the global market leader in the provision of software to support strategic product planning, innovation process automation and product portfolio management.
